Activities of Upazilla Parishad

Functions of the Upazila Parishad:


1. To prepare five-year and various term development plans.
2. To implement the programs of various government departments handed over to the Council and to oversee and coordinate the activities of those offices.
3. Construction, repair and maintenance of inter-union connecting roads.
4. Upazila Parishad Minor Irrigation Project as directed by the government to ensure optimal utilization of ground water resources.
       Adoption and implementation.
5. Ensure public health, nutrition and family planning services.
6. Sanitation and sanitation: Improve drainage system and supply of potable drinking water.
7. (A) To encourage and provide support for the promotion of education at the upazila level.
      (B) Supervising the activities of the concerned institutions and assisting them in improving the quality of secondary and madrasa education programs.

8. To take up activities to establish and develop cottage and small industries.
9. Supporting and coordinating the work of cooperatives and non-governmental NGOs.
10. Supporting and implementing women, children, social welfare and youth, sports and cultural activities.
11. To undertake and implement activities for the development of agriculture, livestock, fisheries and forest resources.
12. Discusses the activities of the police department including up-gradation of law and order situation in the upazila and regularly with the higher authorities

13. Government programs for self-employment creation and poverty alleviation, implementation and implementation thereof
